A Post Summer Peel?

If you were lucky enough to enjoy a holiday in the sun this year, no matter how diligent you were at applying sunscreen, the chances are that you will have some new sun spots on your face, neck and arms.

Skin Peeling is a treatment that can be used to treat a variety of conditions, but is especially good at eliminating superficial blemishes and mild sun damage.

Brazilian women, who are exposed to long hot summers, know it is important to repair their skin during the winter months, and frequently have Skin Peels during this time to wipe away their summer sunspots.

A Skin Peel involves applying a solution, which usually contains retinol, jesner or salicylic acid to the area to be treated.  Once applied, the solution is rinsed off at home or allowed to wear off naturally.   The solution I prefer to use is foundation coloured and does not leave the skin looking red or blotchy afterwards.  The active ingredients in the solution promotes gentle peeling or flaking of the skin, which in turn leads to cell renewal, collagen production and the growth of new skin.

In most patients the flaking or peeling will start 24 hours following treatment and will last for around 2-3 days.   During this time it is important to avoid exposure to direct sunlight or if this is not possible, a high SPF sunscreen must be used.  However the flaking or peeling is not severe and patients describe the sensation of a Skin Peel to the feeling of wearing heavy make up or a slight tingling effect.

Following a Skin Peel, the skin’s surface is clear and smooth, pores are closed immediately and sun spots are reduced.  All of this combines to give the skin a fresh and healthy glow.   Get in touch if you would like to book an appointment.

New LaserPeel Treatment

My new LASERPEEL treatment is a sure fire way to correct pigmentation, reduce crepey skin, rejuvenate stressed out skin and leave you with luminous skin afterwards.

What is it?

This is a one hour treatment, and first the skin is gently lasered using the Trinity EMAX SRA.  This works to provide uniformity to the skin colour, treating sun spots, broken capillaries and improving overall skin tone.  For the ultimate in rejuvenation Dr Haus can add on the ST treatment to help tighten the skin.

Salicylic Acid 30% is then applied to the face, neck or décolletage.  This promotes gentle skin peeling, leading to cell renewal and stimulation of collagen production.  This improves the texture of the skin and decreases ‘expression lines’.  Following the treatment, the skin’s surface is clear and smooth, pores are closed and sun spots reduced, all of which combines to give the skin a healthy, fresh glow.  Skin may flake from 24hrs post treatment, but the peeling will not be severe.

Glowing skin can be seen in as little as one week, so this is the perfect treatment if you have a big event coming up.

Sweaty Summer Acne...

We all love the summer months but the changes in weather (rain, sun, rain, sun!) can play havoc with our skin. Your skin is your biggest organ, but being on your bodies exterior means that it is continuously exposed to the environment.   I see many patients over the summer months with acne brought on by sweating.

In our changeable weather it’s hard to know how to dress in the morning.  Often we are dressed warmly and by lunchtime are hot and sweaty.  We also tend to do more sports in summer and socialise more, running from one place to the next.  It’s no surprise that deodorant sales soar in the summer months!  However summer can bring on a form of acne called Pityrosporum Folliculitis.  This is a form of acne that results in bright red pimples on your back, chest, forehead and along your hairline and chin. Those most prone to this type of acne are often teenagers and younger adults due to the combination of sweat and oily teenage skin bringing rise to a flare up.
My advice to prevent this is to keep your skin as clean as possible and wash or shower as soon as you can after being hot and sweaty and to cleanse your skin with a medicated product.

To banish summer acne, the skin needs to be treated gently and treated with high quality products formulated for oily, congested skin.
My Recommendations include:
  • Thoroughly cleansing the skin with a product specifically formulated for oily skin.  I recommend La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Cleansing Gel or Effaclar Micellar Water.
  • Use a treatment product every day.  La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo is a corrective, anti-imperfection care lotion that helps eliminate severe skin imperfections and unclog pores.
  • Protect the skin from the sun, which contrary to popular belief, is a false-friend to acne.  Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Extreme Fluid is a very high facial sun protection lotion with high UVA protection.  It is also fragrance and paraben free and non-comedogenic which means it won't clog the pores.

·       And finally …….Never, ever squeeze the spots!

Stretch Mark Removal Using Carboxytherapy & Cellulite Removal Using VelaShape

Dr Ariel Haus Has Solutions To Restore Your Body This Summer

Dr Ariel Haus is an expert using Carboxytherapy and has used this procedure in his Brazilian clinic for over 10 years. In the UK Dr Haus has just unveiled treatments using Carboxytherapy specifically targeting Stretch Marks. Dr Haus’ Harley Street clinic already offers Carboxytherapy treatments combating dark under eye bags and these have proved very popular.

Carboxytherapy involves the injection of a small amount of carbon dioxide gas just beneath the skin's surface and it delivers results by increasing the oxygen flow to the target area. Carbon dioxide is produced by the body naturally, and should not be confused with the potentially fatal carbon monoxide. Carboxytherapy is a popular choice for the treatment of stretch marks on the stomach and legs. Stretch marks are often the result of the rapid stretching of the skin associated with rapid growth or weight gain (e.g. pregnancy or rapid gain of fat). Stretch marks may also be influenced by hormonal changes associated with pregnancy.

A minimally-invasive treatment that is virtually painless, it can be done in around 5 minutes. Following treatment the skin texture will improve. Between 6-12 Carboxytherapy treatments are usually required for stretch marks, all spaced one week apart. This is a treatment that is suitable for all skin types and involves no downtime following the treatment.

Carboxytherapy dates back to the 1930s and by using this additional carbon dioxide the body recovers from poor blood flow and in turn the body reacts by increasing the oxygen flow to the target area.

Another great summer bikini season solution is VelaShape. VelaShape II combines gentle light and radio frequency energies (elōs™) with mechanical rollers and vacuum suction to manipulate the superficial fat tissue layer that contributes to cellulite. The heat from the light and RF energies increases metabolism of this fatty layer and shrinks the size of fat cells. The mechanical rollers and vacuum suction act on the blood vessels to increase circulation to the local area, as well as massaging the skin to achieve a smoother, less dimpled surface appearance.

VelaShape II offers a gradual improvement of cellulite in treated areas, firmer and tighter skin surfaces are also reported. 4-6 sessions are initially recommended over the space of just over a week. Maintenance treatments are done once a month. Treatment is safe and effective.

Dr Ariel Haus is registered as a medical practitioner in Brazil, the United Kingdom and Portugal. The specific non-invasive cosmetic treatments that Dr. Haus offers are:

• Dermal fillers (bioplasty and Restylane SUBQ) to smooth out deeper wrinkles and lines

• Body sculpting, cellulite and fat removal with Velashape, the latest technology to achieve non-surgical liposuction.

CO2 Treatments with Dr Ariel Haus Targeting Wrinkles/Crows Feet/Scars

Dr Ariel Haus has been delivering solutions to wrinkles, crow’s feet and scars with the use of CO2RE; a versatile fractional CO2 resurfacing system at his Harley Street clinic in London. The equipment that Dr Haus uses along with his expertise in anti-ageing enables precise targeting and effective treatment of the skin’s surface, middle and deep dermal levels.

The treatments offered using CO2 are ideal for skin rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction, whilst there is some downtime, results are reached with speed and efficiency and with less discomfort than some other systems. Dr Ariel Haus discusses areas like downtime in detail with each patient for joint treatment pattern decisions.

Dr Ariel Haus uses various treatment modes including four fractional ablative treatment modes and pattern shapes including:
• CO2RE Light – providing superficial fractional treatments in the epidermis increasing epidermal cell proliferation
• CO2RE Mid – penetrating more deeply for a stronger fractional ablative effect, producing additional coagulated tissue below the dermal-epidermal junction
• CO2RE Deep – penetrating through to the dermis for the deepest fractional ablative effect, surrounded with significant coagulated tissue deeper into the dermis
• CO2RE Fusion – A unique scan pattern combines treatment depths and intensity of thermal injuries to optimise treatment in the epidermis and dermis simultaneously
